i sometimes like characters that fucking suck. when a character is a shit head in just the right way it can be so funny and/or compelling. like this is my beloved character, Asshole The Hater. they suck and i love them. someone dropped them into a ditch on the side of the road and i picked them out of the ditch and put them in my pocket

What would Gideon's role and motivation be in Jerk Ford verse, since the text in Ford's journals are trolling bs? Would he get the amulet or get the idea that all journals would be a gateway to an unimaginable power?

In Journal 2, Jerk Ford left out the part about the Amulet giving you mystic powers, and instead wrote that it would give you the greatest head of hair ever.

Gideon didn't find out about the mystic powers until later, on later. And his hair had already been completely whitened and lacked natural volume (which is why he used so much hair product).

He IS still beefing with Stan, however. But this time it's because Stan was his Fourth Grade teacher the year before, and he 'confiscated' the amulet when he recognized what it was. Stan told him that flashy jewelry was against the school dress code.

When Gideons father tried to collect the amulet from Stan, Stan lied and said that Gideon must be confused, because he'd reported it missing early and told him he'd keep an eye on it.

Stanley Pines was trusted by Gravity Falls, of course Bud Gleeful believed him. And Gideon is still mad at Stan for this reason and occasionally tells people that Stan's "I'm just A Guy" routine is an act and he's is more conniving than anyone realizes, but Gideon is just a kid so no one listens and thinks he just didn't like that particular teacher.

Without the Amulet, the Tent of Telepathy was never as popular as it was in the canon series.

And when Stanley Pines barred Gideon from seeing Mabel, and then told Bud he needed to teach Gideon that harassment was wrong "before he becomes a problem when he's older" It still pushes him to swear vengeance upon the entire Pines family.

He still has Journal 2 since Stan only knew about the amulet, so he still calls upon Bill Cipher, and later steals the deed to the cabin. Although, he isn't nearly as supported as he was in the canon was because he's not as popular, and Stan is well-liked resident in Gravity Falls.

Bill almost doesn't help Gideon because 'the author of the journals' made sure to write a long excerpt about Bill Cipher being "easily flattered by long, poetic speeches and pseudo-Victorian era English vocabulary" which Bill Cipher actually hated to the point of rage because that was the way Ford catfished him thirty years prior.

Mason Dipper "Catch these hands" Pines got the deed to the cabin back by jumping his *ss in the woods and beating him up. He took Journal 2 as a bonus because he still wanted to find and beat The Authors *ss too.

Stan finds out about Journals 2&3 when Dipper comes back to Soos'* house with the deed, and covered in leaves with scuffed knuckles. Stan borrows both Journals from him with the excuse he "thought it make interesting story material for his students in the fall". And he makes copies of them like he did for Journal 3 in the original series.

Gideon doesn't go to jail, but he still hates the Pines family just as much as canon.

*Soos is informally adopted by Stan, he's staying with Abuelita during the summer so the Twins can have room at the cabin.

Since we’ve all been rewatching Gravity Falls bc of the Book of Bill I decided to compile my favourite joke of each episode in the show. Here’s season 1. Enjoy

Thinking about it, he has the same problem with Dipper. He reads his name as "Dipper Mason Alexander* Pines" and is like "Okay, so he's got two middle names" because since Dipper hates his first name so much, he wouldn't think of it as such.

*Enter your chosen middle name for Dipper here, he has no canon one. Or nix the middle name if you like and Mason is his only middle name to Gideon. Either way, being able to read minds doesn't mean you magically know that his unique first name isn't just a nickname. Like Wendy says, "I thought your parents just hated you or something".

Then Dipper tells Gideon his real name and he's like "Ohhh, 'Dipper' is just a nickname! I understand now."

I've seen the argument that "If Gideon is really psychic, he'd know Stan is not Stanford", but let me remind you of something. Stan has MULTIPLE names that are all associated with being him. Gideon can't tell WHAT his real name is because he's buried "Stanley Pines" under "Steve Pinington", "Stetson Pinefield", "Hal Forrester", "Panley Stines", "Andrew '8-Ball' Alcatraz" and "Stanford Pines". All he knows for sure is that Stanford Pines once had six fingers, because most of the adults knew that, and now he has five. It's only once it's all over that Gideon can finally get it confirmed that "Stanley Pines" is his actual name and all the rest were fakes.

Gideon may be psychic, but he's limited to what the person he's reading the mind of perceives as the truth. And when Stan has buried his true name under six other names that he considers as his name, it gets a little tricky to figure out who the heck this guy really is and it's just easier to use his latest name when addressing him.

thinking Such Insane Thoughts about gravity falls and parental love and liking your kids like. idk.

filbrick might love his kids in some way but he doesnt really like them. caryn loves her boys but doesnt care for them enough.

soos's dad might have liked the idea of a kid. but he never really loved him. abuelita had to take his place.

dipper and mabels parents probably love their kids, sure, but they fuck dipper up because of their issues.

wendys dad loves her as much as he can but she misses her mom so so much.

gideon and pacificas parents dont really love them. gideons parents fear him and pacifica fears her parents.

bills parents loved him so fucking much. it wasnt enough.

fiddlefords parents loved him enough to let him leave. but they left him with a bone deep fear of the "outside" in his bones.

but.. ford and stan. they arent even the twins parents but oh my GOD they love them. deep in their crazy old man bones they LOVE these kids.

fords angry and resentful but he sees them and he goes SOFT. he watches dippers every move and sees himself. he pats mabels fluffy hair "you're a good person, mabel."

stan loves these kids so much goddamnit. everything he does is for this family. you can see in every inch of him he just wants these kids to be ok. even when hes picking on dipper he wants to help so bad. he dies for them.

they are the best parents in the series and they save the world.
